Maggie Turns 2!

We celebrated Maggie's birthday at Rainforest Cafe.  She was a little apprehensive but overall had a good time!

She wanted to be held each time a "rain shower" happened.  But it didn't take too long for her to ask to go see the elephants and gorillas when they started "talking"

We had a double celebration since her birthday is the day after mine.

Maggie got the hang of opening presents quickly!

She loved looking at the Elmo cake, but doesn't like cake!

However, she loves her brothers and sisters!

Good News!

We have returned from our 4 week follow up with our surgeon and have received the good news that Maggie's palate has healed very well.  There are no fistulas!  Praise God!  Thanks to everyone for praying!  There are other surgeries that cleft kids sometimes have: jaw surgery, surgery to help with speech, a nose revision, but for now all of these are maybes for Maggie.  We are done with surgery for at least the next 2 years.  She will continue therapy and growing and we will see the cleft team every 6 months.  We know she will need a bone graft surgery but that will be when she is 8 or 9 years old.

Here are a couple belated photos from Easter

Dad Saves the Day

My Dad flew in to spend the week with us and help out.  He was awesome (under statement)!  He did probably 20 loads of laundry, vacuumed the house, did too many dishes to count, moved Maggie's crib up to our room and fixed our kitchen drawers by replacing the slides so they don't fall on our toes anymore.
We also discovered that Maggie is an "Elmo" lover.

During one of his many trips to the grocery store he discovered these Elmo "eggs" and basket.

Maggie is completely enthralled.  She loves her Gramps and we do too!  Thank you Dad!!

Another Day at the Zoo

Maggie rode around in style

We visited the butterfly garden.

They were happily landing on us.

Maggie likes bugs so far.  However, she is on tylenol #3 at this moment.

We visited the children's area where Maggie enjoyed walking in the wading pool.

Afterwards she was tuckered out and hopefully forgot a little about her pain.

When Toddlers Have Surgery

Maggie had her palate repaired April 6th.

Maggie's surgeon, Dr Peter Wang, he's from Shanghai.

Maggie hated the IV. The night spent in the hospital was a brutal one.

However, the next day we went home and pulled out toys we had held back from the shower.

Maggie especially loved the ball pit.  Thank goodness for the power of distraction!

She's moving too fast for me to capture.  This child was in the hospital 24hrs ago.
